Dust-free hardwood floor refinishing in Raleigh and the Triangle!
We prepare your floor for refinishing by removing furniture and rugs, nailing down protruding nails, sealing off vents, and removing debris from the floors. We'll also assess if there are any boards that need replacing instead of refinishing. Our technicians will let you know before they begin if that is something they find. Usually, they can tell if a wood floorboard needs replacing before even prepping the floor.
This is a step many customers don't think about until we tell them. Your baseboards will need to be removed before we refinish any hardwood floor surface so as not to damage them in the sanding process and so we can access the full span of flooring from door to door (and wall to wall).
If you've been putting off refinishing your hardwood floors because of the dust, you don't have to now. This state-of-the-art sanding technique confines all the dust in vacuum bags that are kept outside of your home. Afterwards, our wood floor contractors go through and fill any holes or nicks in the wood before buffing the floors (also dust-free).
We have many different colors of wood stain for you to choose from. You don't have to have the same color you had before! Technicians will go over your newly sanded and buffed floors with a vacuum just to be safe before applying the stain and coating of your choice. Depending on what finish you chose, your floors will be ready for feet, paws, and beautiful living again within 4-24 hours.
We get a lot of questions from customers about whether their hardwood floors need to be replaced, refinished or repaired. Replacing hardwoods from door to door if they were installed correctly initially almost never needs to be done unless the customer wants a totally different look and type of wood species. Most of the time, we are able to either refinish wood floors, replace damaged boards, or repair your existing hardwood flooring. The exception to this would be in the event the majority of your flooring was damaged by flooding or warped by moisture.
Here are some examples of when we would rather replace damaged areas of your wood flooring or repair your hardwoods by buffing them out and adding another coat of finish.
