At a glance: What is LVT?

Luxury Vinyl tile is a hard flooring option composed of four layers of durable material. The fourth layer, the backing layer, is the bottommost layer of LVT. It enhances the flooring's stability and helps with sound absorption. These layers are usually fused together using heat and pressure during the manufacturing process to create a durable and resilient luxury vinyl tile flooring product. The combination of these layers results in a flooring material that combines aesthetic appeal with practical functionality. The other three layers that most of our customers are interested in are below!

The Wear Layer

The wear layer is the topmost layer of LVT and serves as a protective coating. It is typically made of clear vinyl or urethane and is responsible for the flooring's resistance to scratches, stains, and wear from foot traffic.

The Design Layer

Advanced printing technologies allow for intricate designs that mimic the look of natural materials like stone, ceramic, or wood. This layer gives LVT its distinctive visual appearance.

The Core layer

The core layer provides stability and structural integrity to the LVT. It is typically composed of PVC (polyvinyl chloride) or a combination of vinyl and limestone, offering strength and dimensional stability to the flooring.
